If you are looking for places to host your images of pipes and tobacco, there are some alternatives to photobucket (ick) and imgur (controlled by Reddit):
* https://kek.gg/

* https://imgoat.com/

* http://magaimg.net/
These look like they'll be around for awhile, and not drop your images for inactivity like photobucket, leading to those stupid "image not found" images.

Longetivity is a key factor for me, I have thousands of pictures currently on Photobucket. I've been using Postimage for my gallery photos, but it isn't as convenient as Photobucket. If log in to Photobucket, that reduces the ads, etc. It is still the most convenient when posting a lot of photos (one click copy, all pix are on one page). Photobucket also allows for sub-albums in various categories, an option PostImage doesn't allow.

The forum album is simple, and you don't need multiple sites open. Just seems easier.

You are totally right CE, it is simple but you can't create an album and you can't upload multiple photos simultaneously.

I'm with the Captain on this one. I don't post many pictures to the forum but when I do I usually just use the forum album.

I agree that the forum album is good but would certainly benefit from having albums for say pipes, tobacco, accessories etc.
It's a real pain having to keep hitting the 'previous' button until the desired image shows up :roll:
Regards,
Jay.

The forum for pictures is best and we can all see it, once you get the procedure in your head. Took a little brain power. Only shame is multiple images, but you can work round it.

You can also use the forum album, but for some uses, these are favored, such as posting your image across all social media. Here's another one:

Ever since I found out about postimg I have never had a problem uploading a photo. But now I have issues changing my avatar...

Ah, I'm good then. This is as social media as I get.

Yesterday I had a dream that pipesmagazine added an album creating option to its album section :lol: I think I spend too much time here.

Album here is great for many things, but its image size is limited to 600 pixels on the longer side.

Last time I used photobucket (a couple weeks ago) I ran Malwarebytes anti-malware afterwards and removed over 90 threats. This was also the first time I had used that site in years- Certainly will be the last.

You can remove that 600 pixel limit by removing the "-600x490" from the filename. Wordpress (to which bbPress is a plugin) automatically resizes images according to the settings in the Media section of the configuration.

@phantomwolf:
And that's another reason I avoid many "big sites": they are now malware and spam nexuses.

DM- That is very cool to know. The unlimited image is perhaps too big, but I guess we can enter custom sizes..... ?
In fact, perhaps Kevin could change that default size to a better one. The tiny size doesn't free up any storage on the site, as the fulll image is stored anyway.
What do you think would be an optimum size?

@jpmcwjr:
It makes sense to set small at 150px, medium at 600-800px, and large at 1024px or above. Generally it varies with the site design. Since the source image is preserved, the images can always be manually resized.
