Looks like I'll be working in the shop and be in pipe smoking heaven this weekend.

I don't think you're gonna get much work done in your shop, gecko, there's a lot of weed in that box.
Know your limits but always push the envelope.

I got both boxes over the weekend. All I can say is my gawd. The agony of so many choices and so little time. I'll probably go into nic convulsions just trying all the ones I have been wanting to try, let alone all the others. We will definitely be needing a larger box and strategic packing to combine them. I'll take some pics of it all soon and post them.
Jud, make sure you have at least a half dozen pipes on standby.

Hey Guys,
Since the B/S/T thread is going away to be replaced by.... I'm sworn to secrecy.
I have moved this to the Pipe Tobacco Discussion Forum and made it sticky.
How about keeping it bumped for a few days, so that those that are unaware of the change can be brought up to speed.

Jud, make sure you have at least a half dozen pipes on standby.
My plan is a bunch of ziplocs, so I can extract samples.
Then I can sample at leisure.

That's what I did. I was in sampling mode for a couple months! Found some definite permanent additions to my cellar, though.

I hope pipeinhand puts some of his blends in it! Baron's review makes me very excited! I will also do the ziplock baggie trick so we can keep the box moving.

The ziplock baggies is definitely the way to go about it, it's the only way that I was able to zip through the box (no pun intended) in quick fashion and get it on its way to the next person.
Photoman, I tried somed Halfling's Leaf from the box; boy is that good stuff. I hope you get to try some too.

I will get the box in the mail this week, probably on Wed. I need to get a larger box to combine the two, and package up some things for my contribution. The box I was going to use, doesn't quit make it with all the goodies we have in there.
The Hafling Leaf is very good stuff, and I might leave some. Lol

@Jud. I will get the box out shortly. I have to repack it into another box. I thought the box I was using was going to be big enough for the combined contents of the two boxes we have. I will get another bigger box in town today and get it out. Fear not, it's coming.

Its been quite a week; split my head open, got a concussion, and got stitches. But I did survive, and those that had hoped for a tobacco estate sale must wait a little longer.
With all that going on I finally have the box all packaged up are ready to ship to Jud. I am going to try and leave work early enough today to get it in the mail. With the combined contents of two boxes, it is really ALOT of good stuff.
I have pictures I'll try and post them tonight as soon as my son coughs up the USB cable to my camera.
I added the following to the box assortment:
Sam Gawith - St James Flake - Aged with some flowering.
Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.- Rum Cake - Has a bit of a nic hit, but a good, strong blend. There is a lakeland floral component some may not like though.
4_noggins - Bald headed teacher - Cellar almost 2 years
C&D Guilford - Courthouse - Nice mild and sweet Virginia blend. Cellar almost 2 years
H&H Stogie - Nice mellow blend with cigar leaf
P&C Bulk 965 - Cellar almost 2 years
McClelland 2011 Holiday Spirit - Nice aromatic blend. Let it dry out a bit though.
McClelland Blue Mountain - Great English blend, mild, and rich.Also when combining the boxes I cut off parts of the other boxes that members had written comments on the inside. I didn't want to lose the box's connection with those that had sampled it and passed it on.
So in hopes of keeping and building of a legacy, I added a small notebook to the box. Everyone that has the box should write comments on what they tried, liked, hated, and other general comments to share.

Well gang. We have a new issue. One of the members on the box pass list is no longer a member. Herbinedave is no longer on the forums. I am unaware of why but he asked if he was still included in the box pass. I told him I would ask, but it didn't seem right since it is a PM Forums thing. If you can't post, you can't play.
He replied that if he's no longer on the pass, then he wants his contributions back. In fairness he did contribute a good amount of stuff to the new box after the old one disappeared and we thought it was gone. I have my personal opinion on the matter, but I'm going to hold it back and see what you say.
I see myself as simply coordinator, and though I can make some judgment calls, a decision like this merits a consensus.
So what say you?

Since you contribute based on the assumption that you will be participating, I say either send back his baccy (or what's left of it) or allow him to participate. Just my opinion and I know I'm not part of the pass yet so take it for what it's worth.

I am sorry to hear Dave is not a member with us any longer. I enjoyed his posts, I'm sure there are reasons, but I never like to see our group/forum lose a member. My opinion of the samples is that it is a "donation", and they were freely given. I guess it's like any relationship that goes bad, and one party wants the "ring" back.

Geez Louise, Dave's paid it forward many times for a lot of you here on this forum, including me, if you want, pull his samples and I will pay for the shipping back. Hence the box is 14 some odd pounds, I am sure giving back whatever he has donated twice now, will not dent the pass in a considerable way.

I'm not doing the box pass, I would but I don't have anythig to give ( sent some out to members that could use it) but I just want to say, that from the time Iv been on the forums Dave's been a great guy and always gave it forward. Just my 2cents.

I'm of the opinion that a donation is a donation. Likewise, if he has been kicked out of the forum, he shouldn't be on the list to get the box.

I checked the list and he's pretty far down at this point. I won't make any changes as of yet, since his turn is about 6 months down the road and a million things could change by then. When it gets close we can revisit this if it is still an issue.

The one at the top of the page is still correct since Gecko13 combined the boxes. The box is just a behemoth now. Pretty soon we will need a pallet jack to move the box.

Someone dropped the ball on one box so everyone sent samples to start another, Dave included, then he was kicked off the forum, is apparently trying to stay in touch. If he can't be on the list because he's not a member here then send his samples back. If there had been a big F U guys this Is my month to go type of thread that would be different.

The box has arrived at my abode. All credit to the USPS - it was sent out Friday, and got here on Monday. Not shabby. It's almost overwhelming.

Captain's Log: Still smoking. Can't figure out how to smoke everything in the box in 2 weeks. Started getting sleepy so I smoked all the 5 Brothers sample and now I feel like throwing up. Maybe Chocolate. Which one of these is chocolate? The matches are mocking me again and one box walked away by itself. I can hear my eyeballs move.

Wow this thing is become a tobacco black hole ! It'll suck up any tobacco in a two mile radius and keep growing, and growing, and growing... until we're all inside the box as well and will live happily ever after.
On the Dave thing:

+1Give it time...but think about this... you give to a good cause, they then screw up or make a statement you dislike, or go belly up, or you find out the president of the cause has built a mansion with a ton of supermodels to entertain him at night. Do you call them to ask your money back ? Just food for thought. It sucks... that's for sure.
