In Indonesia (I think it was) during WWII, a unit of U.S. military was bracing for an attack from Japanese forces that never came. They knew the opposition was there and they were very cautious setting out from their defenses to make contact. Well, they never made contact. A huge population of crocodiles had eaten them in the dark. The U.S. group backed off and survived. To crocs, we all just look like food on a buffet. No malice of intent, just suppertime.

Florida has the best news stories I've ever heard in my life. Here's one from earlier this year:
Couple ‘Trapped’ In College Closet For Two Days

By Mario Sevilla, KRON

FLORIDA (KRON) — A Florida couple are facing trespassing charges after spending two days trapped inside a Daytona State College closet.

Here’s the thing: the door didn’t lock at all.

It was initially reported that the door could only be locked from the inside. According to WTSP, a news station in Florida, when police were investigating how the couple got locked in, an officer went into the closet and found that the door didn’t lock at all.

John Arwood, 31, and Amber Campbell, 25, claimed they were chased into the closet on Sunday, Daytona Beach police said.

Police said the janitorial closet, located inside the Marine and Environmental Science Center, was covered in feces. Police also found copper scouring pads sometimes used to smoke crack, according to investigators.

No drugs were found in the closet, but WFTV News reported that police officers did detect the smell of meth.

Arwood called 911 after spending a couple of days stuck inside the closet. The pair were located and “rescued” when police used Arwood’s cell phone signal to track their location.

It’s unclear why they waited so long to call for help.

The building was closed for the holiday break and it’s unknown how they got into the center.

Arwood and Campbell were charged with trespassing. Campbell was also charged with violating her probation, which she was given after resisting arrest in 2013.

We had a guy up here that would get high on meth and then would get naked and resist arrest. Happened about four times. I named him dangle.
