This is a Camelia grafted from a very old Camelia which is called By The Gate, because it came from a huge Camelia that was by the Gate. We don't have snow in S Louisiana Thank God, so this is our white snow.

In the early 90's I always made a point of listening to NPR's Friday morning broadcasts when Bob Edwards called Red Barber and they'd discuss whatever was on Red's mind. As often as not they'd talk about Red and Lylah's garden and how the Camellias were doing. (Red, one of the great voices in baseball broadcasting, always spent more time talking about the Camellias and Azaleas at Augusta then the actual tournament itself.)
Thank you for that beautiful picture, Bradley, and please know how much I'm looking forward to opening that package under my tree with the Maurice, LA stamp in a few hours.
