Can you correctly guess all 4 of these flakes? I took all the pictures with an iPhone, same lighting, and no editing (other than cropping). I was thinking this would be fun to do just for education and bragging rights, but if I'm allowed to I'll mail an average pipe-full sample of each tobacco to the first person who gets all 4 correct. I'll only mail to the CONUS; however, If you're outside the CONUS, I'll gladly mail them to one of your friends in the CONUS

I'm guessing the first two are C&D/GL Pease, just because they don't look like they were ever super clean flakes.

I LOVE this! such a cool and unique idea. Of course I haven’t a freaking clue, but I know there are tobacco guys here that can and will nail this puzzle.

So far there are no more correct guesses. That said, there are a couple really close guesses. Tomorrow morning I will post 1 more picture of each. I will do my best to capture the best representation of each flake. I will also put a quarter in each shot to help with sizing.

FLAKE #1- NOT C&D, SG, Bengal Slices, or Bacon
    FLAKE #2- YES! Esoterica Penzance
FLAKE #3- NOT Pete Stokkabye or Bacon
FLAKE #4- YES! C&D Carolina Red Flake

There really aren’t rules such as limiting everyone to just one guess. Just the first reply that includes the name of all 4 correct flakes.

    FLAKE #2- Esoterica Penzance
FLAKE #3- ? Some straight virginia or va/per, no idea.

This interesting thread has brought it to my attention how few visual cues I observe with my tobacco. i'm sometimes credited with being an intense observer, but not with these. None of the photos clicked particularly with any of flake I've ever smoked. Tin smell and taste and fragrance when smoked might key more responses, I hope. But any of it looks like all of it to me.

We actually have a winner, but I was waiting for him to officially post all 4 in a single post. I guess I can go ahead and declare a winner.

JC knows his stuff!!! Congrats on solving the last two pieces of the puzzle!

#1- McClelland Blackwoods Flake (2013) with nice plume
    #2- Esoterica Penzance (2018)
#3- GLP Stonehenge Flake (early 2018) but already has plume
    #4- C&D Carolina Red Flake (2018)
