Made it to Montreal today for a visit to Blatter & Blatter. After battling midday traffic we arrived at the shop and were thoroughly impressed by it all, very welcoming and helpful. I can't say enough about how friendly these guys are.

Oh yeah, I had to buy something...

I think the square shank with the grooves on the bowl is a definite Bulldog, or so I read on here, I think.

Montreal is a great city, and that's the heart of pipe smoking there. What an excellent pair of pipes. The perfect pipe shop visit.

Blatter & Blatter is on my Holy Grail list of places to visit.
I have three of their burners, adore them on a weekly basis, and can't wait until I walk through their door someday.
Your pipe selections are just superb. The Rhodesian kills and that Canadian is a sucking chest wound. And good on you for getting behind the counter and into the workbench area.
You did so good, man.

Thank you for sharing the story of your visit. You picked out some very nice pipes.
I have two Blatter and Blatter pipes. They carve some beautiful pieces. If I ever make it to the shop, I will look for one of their more traditional catalog shapes. A bent bulldog like the one you chose is right up my alley. One of my B&B pipes is a stunning large freehand with plateau at the rim and shank ends but it needs a new home - I just was not meant to be a freehand guy.

Great selection of pipes. Those Blatters are very good smokers. Mine is a bit older and signed by Robert Blatter.

Someday I'll make the trip there. Montreal does have its charms.

Great pipes. I used to smoke their Blatter and Blatter Reserve. It was a tasty blend. Fun place to visit, real old time tobacconists.

Very cool. Love the pics. I travel to Montreal every couple of months for business, but I have never visited Blatter and Blatter. One day I will have to rectify that.

Welcome back Peck, it's well worth a visit, very welcoming and friendly. I mentioned hearing of them on the forum and they're aware of us for what that's worth. Anytime I'm back in Montreal I'll stop in for sure.

That looks like a great shop! I haven't been back to Montreal in years, but next time I do I will have to stop in. You picked up a fantastic set of pipes by the looks of it as well.

I'm smoking your Bulldog's twin in my userpic. Great pipe shop, and the only thing I can fault the Blatters for is being five hours away. I make a point of visiting them every chance I get.

Eight hours for me but I was in Ottawa so only a two hour trip. Also a good excuse to visit the Porsche and Lamborghini dealerships. Didn't pick anything up though.... :mrgreen:
