Every time I go to a show, I always tell myself, "Kevin, you don't need any more pipes. You are not buying anything."
Yeah right.
I was walking around the Kansas City Pipe Show with Greg Pease and I told him that I'm not buying anything. He told me that I was being ridiculous by coming to a pipe show and not getting at least one pipe.
Further, he promised that if I got a pipe, he would get one too. The final clincher was when he whispered to me his estimated worth of this pipe vs. the asking price ... then there was no turning back, and I went straight to the ATM Machine to get cash.
Here it is -

Glad to hear you cave to peer pressure quite easily.
Very nice pipe. I think the band really makes that pipe pop for me. Otherwise there's not a whole lot of contrast. I'm not seeing anything super nice about the grain. Depending on what you paid for it, I would have passed for something with a bit more pizazz. Although I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice.
Congrats on another pipe you don't need.
How's the cumberland feel on the teeth? Still havn't experienced that yet.

Wow ! Mr. Pease was right in twisting your arm. He would have a lot less effort with twisting mine ;-)
As a sucker for fancy stems... this is one of the most beautiful ones I've seen. And as a Dunhill, I'm sure it smokes great to boot.
Nice purchase  :worship:

Thanks guys!
@Spartan

You usually do not on most Dunhill pipes. They have a line of straight grains, which are the even more expensive pipes, but most Dunhills are not noteworthy for grain.

The word "Cumberland" refers to the design, color, look of the stem. It is actually made of Vulcanite (hard rubber), like most typical black stems.

Oh wow.
So the cumberland stem(Vulcanite) can still oxidize if neglected?
Haven't seen that before!

I feel reassured a bit when one of the Mods has PAD as well :)

Thats a really nice pickup. If that band was silver I'd have picked it up asap. Love the cumberlands. Have my eye on an XL over at Ries. G1

Beautiful Dunhill Kevin...congrats! Enjoy every puff! (And a bottle of Glenfarclas with every Dunhill purchase...what a deal!). :puffy:

Well done! While you're right about Dunhills not being known for their grain, they ARE known for their lines and shapes being dead solid perfect.
