When I first opened my tin of Dunhill Nightcap, I was intimidated. It was plainly obvious that it was much bolder than the Petersons Irish Oak I had been enjoying all day. I packed my first bowl after reading one of G.L. Pease's article, 'Blinded By Science'. The particular part that I took from it:
I can't distinguish between the different tobaccos contained yet. But it's not really about that, is it? Not yet, but perhaps soon. Until then, just enjoying the ride. :

This reminded me, that pipe smoking isn't about cutting corners. So instead of packing my bowl in my usual way, a few pinches, tamp, a few more, tamp. I decided to go a slower route. I put on some good music and took my time. When I was satisfied (and a little proud of myself), I gave it the false light, smoothed the surface as usual, and lit it again. Immediately the first thing that came into my mind was: I bet this is what those great actors like Cary Grant, Peter Lorre, and I don't even know if Humphrey Bogart smoked a pipe. But if he did, I bet it was something like Nightcap. It's a taste that makes me feel like throwing on a smoking jacket, pouring some expensive scotch, and getting a few loyal hounds to lay at my feet, while talking politics with the guys, or solving some math equation that I can't even pretend to comprehend.
