Good afternoon everyone!
Today is finally the day. My first Dunhill arrived. It's a 1968 Shell Briar. It's in great condition and I got it for less than $150. It's a group 1 and will be a flake smoker. Trying to decide if I should load the first bowl with a fresh bag of Stonehaven, some mid 2000's Escudo, or possible some Wessex BCDF.
I've been wanting my first Dunhill for a while and did not feel complete as a pipe smoker if I had never smoked one, let alone owned one. You can spare me the argument that Dunhill's are overrated, they may very well be, and I don't care. I simply had to own a piece of pipe history for myself.
Here she is... now off to smoke her!

Great looking pipe and i am glad to hear you love it. You are now complete as a pipe smoker and more importantly a man. One can truly not be a man if he does not own a Dunhill. Those without one will always be considered effeminate and their manhood will always be in question. I know this to be a fact as I do not own a Dunhill and you should see the looks I get by total strangers as I walk down the street. I hear them snickering as I pass and hear the words, look at that guy, he doesn't own a Dunhill and he is definitely light in the loafers.

Missed this post somehow. Congrats Jordon! That is one fine looking Dunhill shell. When I first began my pipe smoking journey, I never thought I'd own a Dunhill, and now I am the proud owner of not one, but three!

Very nice! I just finished the stem on a 1963 660 root briar I got online for a mere $80.
I'll be working on the bowl this weekend, then take some pics before firing it up.

Jordan that's a special little Dunhill. I love it, especially in the size 1. The perfect carry-with, grab 20 minutes peace kind of pipe and a real looker. I was in Bourdon House in London yesterday, which is the Dunhill home in the UK - http://www.dunhill.co.uk/the-homes/london/?mid=23006ws25666&mkwid=shYDYRdVi_dm&pcrid=29281191908&kword=bourdon%20house&match=e&plid=&gclid=CMXGvrmzwb4CFRQctAodtFQA3w and had my nose pressed up against the glass of the pipe cabinets. They were saying that they'd just had a delivery of new shapes and sizes and that they're seeing a steady rise in the number of pipes sold, despite the internet. Apparently they're selling c. 350 a year and expect this to keep going up. The cabinet was full for the first time in ages and some of the latest models are really beautiful, including horn army mounts to die for. But they don't have size 1s; it seems they're pretty rare. You're a lucky man! I hope she gives you years of enjoyment.
Andy

Congrats mrjerke on the 1st Dunhill! That's a classic. Funny thing about Dunnies is once you have one sooner or later others just seem to find their way into your life.
Andystewart -That's good to hear about the uptick in pipes sold.
