I found this image a couple of months ago, and was really dazzled by it. I liked the radical bowl shape, and the texture combination of plateau, rustified, and smooth. I tracked down the maker and asked if he could make a similar one.
He completed it earlier this week, and apparently I wasn't clear enough about what aspects of the original pipe appealed to me. He said he didn't currently have an appropriate piece of plateau in stock, although I wished he had told me that up front. Instead of a wild pipe, he interpreted the triangular theme in a much more elegant fashion.
After my initial disappointment, I realized it was a very beautiful pipe in its own right and agreed to buy it. Meanwhile, he's sourcing some plateau blocks for his working stash. I think it's quite well done, especially considering that it was less than half the cost of the lowest price Dunhill smokingpipes is currently showing.
