My parents were nice enough this year to buy me a gift certificate to my local B&M this year, and today I got the chance to get there and buy myself another pipe. So here it is photo GBDCanadian_zpsf96fbe68.jpg"> a French GBD Speciale, I'm getting ready to smoke it soon, I think I'm going with some Royal Yacht tonight.

Great looking pipe! I don't have a GBD in my collection, but they do get a lot of praise around here. Congrats!

Very nice pipe, my friend. I have heard much praise for GBD, but have yet to smoke one myself. Hope it gives a pleasant birthday smoke for you.

So what is the main difference between a Lovat and a Canadian?

    Depends on who you ask.

I am sure someone may provide a quote from some respected, maybe long dead aficionado to delineate otherwise, but for me, a lovat is a billiard with a saddle bit and a longer that average shank. A canadian has a long-ass shank with a "regular" stem.

They are a site sponsor and in the past had the largest amount of GBD pipes in at least the United States and possibly other countries as well.

The whole story of Smokers' Haven is absolutely fascinating. What a rich part of pipe smoking history!
