For all the newer pipe smokers, I saw this today and wanted to pass it along. Muttonchoppiper is a great video resource for new pipe smokers. He has a great 101 series on how to smoke a pipe, but he also does something called Blend Club where everyone tries out a blend a month and discusses it on his YT comments section. Well, this year, tobaccopipes.com has partnered with him to get samples of the blends into the hands of those interested parties. IMO this is a class move by a great online tobacco shop, and a great YT channel. Also, there's apparently a discount code: muttonchop

I was excited to see the collaboration and am def gonna get the 12 pack. I have mb 4 already and there's a few I'm pretty sure I won't like but I think it will be fun anyway. I never went out of my way to acquire blend club blends just for blend club so this a really nice option. We could have a post blend club thread too mb if there's interest...

They're selling the individual blends for $3 each as well.

I like the idea. I’ve had a few of these blends before, but I’m in to discuss them with a group. Like a virtual pipe club for those without a non-virtual one (like me). All my smoking friends are cigar guys and can’t seem to figure out pipes, although most have tried.

Alrighty then so far it's me and you Mikefu, its a labor of love for sure (in reference to the cigar smokers aversion to our method of smoke).
Bluegrassbrian, yeah he can be kinda corny among other things however his heart is in the right place, is a conscientious gentleman, has many talents and is an asset to the pipe smoking community. Although I think the neighbors heard my eyes roll into the back of my head when I saw the Christmas poem reading, however I believe some of the stranger things are done by request by his hard core groupies.

Ive known him in real life.. so that may affect my opinion.

I also have an aversion to the "pipe community" in theory, but I could just be a misanthrope.

Same. I've always looked at the use of "community" to justify a group as a means of covering shame. Sort of like calling smoking a "hobby". Just do what you do and enjoy it without needing to give it a label.

What bugs me about this “community” crap is the assumption of inclusion. Get Off My Lawn is right. And take your little friend with you. Piker.

I like his videos, and I think it’s a really cool concept. I am however cheap. 12 months X .25oz = 3oz. Price is $29.88, so it’s almost $10 an ounce. I’m WAYYY to cheap to pay that lol

Good news. Type in the "muttonchop" code at checkout and you get it for $14.99. That's $5/oz.

I generally buy by the pound of Stokkebye, Mac Baren, and C&D from SPC for under $4/ounce.

Can't say I'm interested in the monthly blend thing, but I'm extremely grateful for the youtube link...because it led me to this Making Mutton Chops tutorial which I desperatly needed.

I may be able to finally accomplish this now without making a total mess of it as I have so many times in my failed attempts thus far.

I now have renewed hope of realizing my dream of becoming a finalist in the local Barbershop Quartet auditions.

I watched a couple of his vids as a newer pipe smoker, and really disliked them, especially the one about indoor smoking being good because "pipe smoke just dissipates into the air" and other blatant misinformation.

Same. I found Kel's (smokeringpipedreams) videos to be much more suited for a new smoker. Chris has too many opinions of what a pipe smoker is supposed to be.

By pipe smoking community I meant the actual smoking pipes not the people. No jk, really I used it to refer to the total sum of all those who smoke pipes, maybe I would have been more accurate just writing that in so many words. So I was confused by those renouncing pipe community as a concept being that inclusion is by default and moreover this forum is quite obviously a pipe smoking community. Please tell me if I'm wrong in believing so.
Anyway I guess enough people like my virtual buddy and his club that its sold out; bummer. Anyone knows if there will be more available anytime soon?

Yeah, I just noticed that they partnered. I think it is pretty cool for both.I used to watch some of his videos years ago.with the discount code, that is alright $5 oz,but like others are saying, I have already tried quite a few. It is definitely a good thing for new smokers though.

Seems like a nice fellow who’s genuinely trying to share his love and knowledge of pipes, but when I watch it feels a little like Mr. Muttonchop’s Neighborhood. It has its place, though.

I like Muttnchop. The video he did the other day of him just sitting in the chair smoking in silence was kind of odd though. He did say that his fans asked for it. "And here we view this rare creature called a Muttnchop Piper, in its natural habitat."

He did a couple tours of shops near to me. i have visited two of them after watching his channel.

When I say near, one is an hour away the other two hours.

I'm sure this change will only help the blend club.

I think Bob Dylan was on to something with these lyrics:

"Don't follow leaders and watch the parking meters".

As far as I'm concerned anyone claiming to be a leader is immediately suspect. I'll smoke my pipe on my own terms, thank you very much. "A group of pipe smokers shall be called [X]" and other rubbish. Don't tell me what to do or how to do it Muttonchop.

I think he seems like a nice dude and he cares about trying to get non pipe smokers interested pipe smoking. In my opinion, there are a lot of things for us pipe smokers to get riled up about than Muttonchop's youtube videos.

He also seems to genuinely care about people, which I find refreshing because I find myself to be generally pessimistic and misanthropic.

Here we see the pipe smoker in his most natural habitat. Notice the group over there huddled for warmth and protection. Ah and to your right you will see and example of pipelonersmokicus. He is all alone grumpy and sullen
Oh my if you look to your left there is pipamommaca taking care of the young ones. Notice how the other species gather around to gaze in both wonder and disgust. Poor pipamommaca why why cannot we get along?:-)
