I don't do facebook. For more reasons than the one you just posted about. Luckily your link doesn't work...

It happened in Cleveland. It would appear to be the new, all time low for the city.

FBI is assisting, he's still out there, police say "stay inside". Happy Easter, folks.

The short answer is two words: Mark Zuckerberg.

It's just ironic that anyone who socializes on an online forum could take issue with Facebook.

Facebook is too intrusive for me. On here, I can keep anonymity, or none.

On facebook you can control who sees what/when. I use facebook as a journal and to keep up with friends. Facebook is a tool. That's all. I'm fairly certain there were similar arguments when books were created, radio, any mass media. Each evolution gives away more and more info. It's only as evil as you allow it to be.

Speaking as someone who has worked in digital marketing and has seen the sausage made, I do not blame anyone who does not want to use Facebook.

Various social media schemes that seem to offer clear advantages and some control to members also have an uncomfortable intrusive aspect, a sort of psychological ponzi scheme or pyramid scheme that has members bidding for new members, with the medium being an active agent, and also gathering data and aiming all sorts of ads and messages. All of this is a long way from murder, but has a strong whiff of manipulative coercion. Even linkin, which is supposed to be more career oriented, strikes me as spooky. I can be a paranoid old hermit, but I also have a good sense of when I'm being shouldered. I'd be careful with social media, very alert, skeptical, and suspicious as needed.

It's supposed to be, but over the past year it's become more like Facebook unfortunately.

Facebook was cool at first. It's too easy to start drama, with people you know and or see daily. Lots of my friends post things that shouldn't be said. I am however one of the very VERY few people that don't do facebook. So it is obviously thriving without me.

I've never had a reason to look at Facebook. I've had friends suggest I go there and post pictures to share. I don't share photos, I sell photos. I've simply not seen an advantage for Facebook.

Sorry, but shouldn't the thread title be "Murdered Dead On Facebook?"

I see we've gone from random acts of violence on FB live to now murder. That's just great! Gotta love technology. I haven't used my FB since 2010. I should delete my account, but I'm to lazy to login and delete it. I do use Instagram, so that's as close to FB as I'm going to get.

The Irony/Hypocrisy alarm bells are going off like crazy. It makes my brain hurt. Your arguments would perhaps carry a bit more weight elsewhere. Yes, we all know how Facebook works and what it does. There's no secrets there, no giant conspiracies. Corporation bad. Companies evil. Zuckerberg monster. Cliches good. Blah blah blah blah. I suppose you don't watch tv because of the subliminal messages and liberal slant? Historically, mass media has been a one way stream, but now that it's reciprocal it must be the work of the devil? I get those who simply have no need of it. Personally, I hate the telephone as a verbal communication tool, but the belief that today's tools are somehow inherently evil? All that means is you're very old and the devil is in the music.

This is about as far as I go with social media. Don't ever touch Facebook or Twitter.

I will give my two cents worth about facebook. I belong to a couple groups there to get ideas about things such as woodworking. As a woodworker, I am always looking for new ideas and have found a couple pages on that site worth following for inspiration. But, I agree, for the most part, it is a waste of time. Occasionally get a good laugh from some of my friends on it.
