Mark Ryan of L.A. Poche Perique Tobacco Company will be in KC on Saturday and Sunday. He will be at Cigar & Tabac on Saturday from 9AM to 6PM. Then on Sunday he will be at Fidel's Cigar Shop from 11AM to 3PM. Mark is apparently going to be introducing some new cigars with perique in them.
A great chance for local pipers and aficionados to meet the man behind the rebirth of perique tobacco.

This was just a wonderful event. Mark is just the greatest person to talk. We had a great discussion on perique tobacco and what it is exactly. The are few other places in the world making something they call perique but it doesn't even remotely resemble the real stuff. You just can't take any old leaf, throw it in a barrel, put some pressure on it for a while and let it ferment and generate the real stuff.
