Military mounts are the best! You can move the stem around as you need to and pull the stem out as you need to. I've really grown to like them.

Yes! The one I'm smoking right now is under 2 inches. The best. I think I'm going to pull mine out now, cap the pipe, and smoke this bowl in bed later on when I wake up at 4am. The best thing about it is that I can do this and the wife won't say a thing.
