was smoking a meerschaum lined black shell in a few scenes in this late 60s film. Strangely the bowl was white as far in as you could see. Just a stage prop and not really smoked. I just got Netflix hooked up to my TV so I am able to look at groups of films.Ingmar Bergman does not seem as deep as he did back then. In fact the film, though interesting, is a bit sophomoric about life.

I know what you mean, Foggy. I guess he was speaking to the times. I was sophomoric then!

Thank you, God, Foggy and Elpfeife. I always thought Bergman films were overwrought and that I was just too dammed stupid to understand them.
I'm quite a bit older now and I get the angst and the fact that life just wears people down.
Bermgan's cinematography and lighting are genius and the performances he pulled from Max von Sydow, Harriet and Bibi Andersson are amazing.
The guy always left me scratching my head and that's okay, but the satisfaction level was way south of Empty.
