Who would win in a fight?
I'd have to say Mac would take out Bond pretty quick. Mac didn't rely on someone to give him gadgets. He improvised with what was around him. He was much better at thinking on his feet and adapting to the environment. Nobody says, "Oh, he James Bonded it!". People do say, "He MacGyvered it!". I think in a fight Mac's military background paired with his immense knowledge of science and chemistry as well as the fact he was a hockey player would come out on top over Bond's MI6 training.

In a real fight, Mac for sure! On the other hand, if the fight is for a woman, it's Bond all the way! I know 30yr old women that still think Connery is a stud. The man is cool, I'll give him that!

Bond would win, by the time MacGyver tried to make some weird gizmo with chewing gum, Bond would have swept him all over England and then stole his woman.

I think Mac would even give him a run for his money with the ladies. Mac was always going on dates with some girl or another. Plus he wears a tux really well in the episode where he's in the hotel casino cracking the audio safe with the wine glasses filled with different levels of water to change the pitch.
I'd say any era Bond, in a one on one confrontation.

Just because someone can build something doesn't make them good in a fight, plus Bond is a trained spy who has taken out many people with just his hands. Then to top it off Bond always has his pistol and MacGyver rarely carried a gun.

If I remember right Mac was ex special forces. Basically he was a government assassin during the Cold War and that's why he retired and started working for the Phoenix Foundation, to take out criminals without killing them. That way they could be tried for their crimes.

Yeah. I gotta go with bond. Any bond in any era I think would outsmart, manuver, and outmatch lil Mac. Maybe not by a huge landslide in certain areas, but still ahead in every race.
Not kicking the guy. I like the guy, but were talkin about bond. Let's be serious. Hahaha

Update. So I just was laughing and asked the Mrs.
I said no bias.. imagine James bond vs mac..
I said weapons?

Driving? (includes all vehicles)

Physical strength and stamina

Looks and charisma
We debated various scenarios where if you handed them both a ___, who would do what.
I think it comes down the urban vs rural. Mac is resourceful. But bond gets it done. If stranded on a desert island? Bond would be at a strong disadvantage...but don't forget that would be the same week that Hawaiian tropics would be doing the bikini shoot. He has that rediculous luck on his side.
The physical fight got brought up. Hands, knives, guns, distance or up close. Tools weapons and knives ect... Then we both laughed because in thinking of Bond in fighting stance with knife tight and gaurd hand out.....and Mac naturally with his swiss army knife...

Bond is up to date with his training and has no qualms about shuffling the bad guy off the mortal coil. He's quick and fit and bad arse. McGyver is EX special forces and no longer wants to or trains to kill. He may of been a match before he started building nuclear reactors from tin foil and bubblegum but now he's just be a speed bump for Bondy on his way to pick up a supermodel.

Bond's gun is so puny! lol. That's another reason I hated the Bond movies. Saw a part of Gold Finger and was like, "Really, a gold spray painted water pistol! Bond must be a pussy or an idiot or both if he thinks that's real.".
Mac's better at hand to hand combat than Bond based on his military training and continued boxing. Plus he still keeps up a good diet and is in good shape. He's also a better shot than Bond because he was a special forces sniper. Unlike Bond Mac makes all of his gadgets. Bond isn't as good as Mac at thinking on his feet and adapting himself to his current environment to get himself out of jams.
Mac chooses his targets. He does what he does because the person has committed crimes and he feels they should pay for them by trial not with their life. Bond just goes after whoever the government tells him to and kills them no questions asked. There's really no conscience there. Bond is basically a sociopath.
