Just like the title says, I'm looking for some of the strongest English blends known to man. I want a blend that tastes like I'm chewing on a hunk a leather and chased with a bottle of liquid smoke! A blend that makes people say things like "not for the faint of heart." The kind of blend that when you open the tin you get tears in your eyes!

    Suggestions?

It's not an English, but the strongest tobacco I know of is Five Brothers, it is a straight Burley. Powerful stuff, do not smoke on an empty stomach. As for English, a large bowl of Nitecap gets me highly buzzed.

Thanks Baskerville! I'm writing all these down in a list.

Philobeddoe, Nightcap is good stuff, but I want stronger (flavor wise). I'm fairly nicotine resistant, the first time I tried Nightcap, I didn't notice a thing. In fact, I smoked two bowls back to back!

Now if it's nicotine your wanting then you need to try:
    1792
    Bracken Flake
    Irish Flake
    XX Black Rope.

Other full flavored English blends to try would be Ten Russians or Timm's London 1000. You might like a full Balkan, like Larry's Blend in the Hearth & Home series, too.

Not necessarily. I'm just looking for intense and extreme flavor. But if its high in nicotine, thats ok too though!.

I like the tin note of 1792, I don't think it's "funky"or "stinky", I find it quite enjoyable.

Pirate Kake! Made by Cornell and Diehl. 70% Latakia. Your fingers will reek of this stuff when you break up the kake, and once smoked, it is a full on force of wet campfire mixed with dirty dog and old Earth with a good dose of burning leather. Your clothes, fingers, hair, the walls of the room you are smoking in, and any small animals in your path will REEK of Latakia the next day...in other words, this stuff is good!

CD adagio is quite something, not sure if its what you want though

Larry's is a lovely full Balkan.

I haven't tried 1792, so can offer no opinion, but it is flavored with extract of the torquin bean (I think I have that correct), which is used in a lot of the "Lakeland" blends - S Gawaith and Gawaith & Hogarth.

Ashdon Artisan's blend, Virginian and Turkish tobacco's with Syrian Latakia and a touch of Perique, the best and strongest English Mixture in my humble opinion.

H&H Larry's Blend and McClelland's 5110 Dark English bulk would be my two suggestions.

Great topic. I love flavor bombs, and have considered trying the Abingdon and Larry's Blend.
I spoke with Russ at Pipesandcigars.com who also recommended their Armada.

Chime in with the others on Capt. Earles Ten Russians. As heavy as it is with Latakia it remains surprisingly smooth.
P'raps not liquid smoke strong but for huge flavor Black House should be considered.

FWIW, I too love 1792. Tonquin as a flavoring rocks!

Pretty much all the Englishes mentioned so far reside happily in my cellar. But the one that slams me when I'm wanting both flavor and Vitamin N is Bow Legged Bear.

The strongest Dunhill mixture made was A11010. It is now being replicated true to form and taste by Park Lane Tobacconists. Their designation I believe is A1-1010. If you like latakia this is it!!!

I will say that Larry's Blend is absolutely a quality blend. As for 1792 Flake, I am a nic lightweight. So, while I love it, it does not love me!!! I'm currently in the market for a smaller bowled pipe to dedicate to this evil/glorious tobacco.

As a latakia-phile I have avoided 10 Russians until now because I am a nicotine wimp. Perhaps 7 Russians would be what I am looking for.

I went over to tobaccoreviews and read a couple of pages on the 1792 and there were several who said it was the nastiest sh*t they had ever put in their pipe ( could have been aromatic smokers )

I bet they were aromatic smokers. Do you ever notice on that site that all the English smokers who try an aromatic say its the nastiest thing they ever had in their pipes? I must be a weird smoker in that I love Englishes and aros equally.

My two best suggestions to answer this question have already been mentioned: C&D Pirate Kake and Bow-Legged Bear. I no longer smoke either one very much as I have gotten away from the heavy Latakia blends that used to be a staple for me. I would always end the night with a bowl of Pirate Kake in my Kirsten pipe that I reserved for smoking this blend. Bow-Legged Bear doesn't have quite as much Latakia but it does seem to have more of a nicotine kick. These two also have a very strong room note.

purple cow, from c+d. i hate it. made me sick. 1st 1/2 bowl was ok. but after that watch out. maybe it was just me. but i like full bodied strong tobac myself, just could not hack purple cow. try it anyway, we all have different taste.

Looks like this thread is developing into a 2 topic discussion. For a lat bomb I also agree with C&D's Pirate Kake.
As for 1792, it is truly a love it or hate it blend. Me; I love it and smoked it all day for years. Since it has been scarce on our shores I did get a tin from Iwan Ries and have been using it as the occassional treat. Not for newbies or folks with weak constitutions but great nonetheless.
