Just jarred five ounces of PC/Russ O. Log Cabin, which is a Va/bur/Cav classic American blend, especially suitable for cobs, breaking in pipes, and smoking outdoors or on the porch. This is one of my favorite genres of tobacco. The five ounces just filled the jar. In fact I had to pack it down a little to get the last half ounce in the jar. I assume, since this is to be smoked starting right away, there's no harm done with the jar brim full, and I'm not trying to age the blend. Do you pack your jars to the top?

I guess if jarring for a aging tobacco needs some air. So 70 to 80% loosen tobacco of jarring is good to long term.

I just thow as much into the jar as I can fit. Not too worried about it.

I've packed down blends in some jars with no ill effects other than needing to use a spoon to loosen the tobacco in the bottom of the jar.
