OFF TOPIC: List the 3 things you would really like to have in life. Can be anything...health, wealth, a person, a new pipe, etc. No particular order as far as that goes even though the first one listed might get you the other two on your list.

Earth: The Insane Asylum of the Universe. Nowhere else could things be more messed up.

Does a culture based on separation and competition, of scientific sophistication and mideval religion, offer happiness even as it ravishes the Earth that sustains it?

    1. My own car
    2. A new iPod(mine got stolen)
    3. Lots of money

As long as I got a pipe full of baccy and a nose full of snuff, I'm a happy camper
Cigarettes are an addiction, cigars are a hobby, pipes are a religion

Ok...keep in mind, my list is probably skewed by having both a toddler and an infant to contend with, but here goes:

    1) A good nights sleep
    2) A clean house
    3) See number 1

    1 - I don't need a lot of money. Just... enough.
2 - I don't need to be happy. Just content.
    3 - A Peterson 999.

And I would like to see my forum friends get what I have - a decent job, a good woman, a few shekels for some nice pipeweed once in a while. That would be ... enough!

Assuming this is for personal desires only

    1. Enough money to clear up all my debts. With that, what we have would be enough.

    2. A well-stocked tobacco cellar, with big supplies of my faves, and a nice collection of other stuff.

    3. The opportunity to meet 6 or 7 of my favorite online pals.

1.Definitely more cash. Enough to pay off the house and student loans with enough coming in to not have to work.
2.My wife to be healthy. She has Krohn's and was just diagnosed with degenerative disk disorder. She also still gets bad headaches from an accident she was in back in '88. In a coma for a week.
3.I guess more cash to buy off a friends alpaca farm so they can retire from it. They are getting up there in age and its just those two. Plus, the wife would like to get into that kind of thing.

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. How then would we control the worlds population if we weren't killing each other off in mass numbers each day?

Little bit of health, little bit of wealth, and a little bit more brains. With that, and a bit of hard work, you can get just about everything else

Congress seems to believe that 'Children are our future' is a phrase coined by tobacco advertisers.

To have the health I had ten years ago and all my teeth.

To be able to retire this year.

That my only sister makes it through cancer.

So this is the proverbial "Rub a lamp, 3 wishes granted routine?"

Well in retrospect to my constant desires that I pray for often I would say...

    1. A global initiative to build deep space vessels and satellites that piggy back all signals to be released 1 per year. As they travel further away they would always have a lifeline communication link that would be upgraded with firmware updates via a network of satellites that would be released each year by a command center.

    2. A global control of birth rates that limit all births to 2 each per household. Adoption would be capped at 4 children max. - All sex offenders, rapists and molesters would have to be chemically castrated. - Invetrofertialization would be banned and adoption the method of obtaining a child.

    3. All resources would exist in a global pool whereby allocation of the resources would simply go to those who need them at the time. An equal goal of housing, clean air, food and water would be enough for any man to continue working to help his fellow man. All medicine, housing, schooling and resource allocation would be centralized and there would be no royalty in that society. All humans would exist at the same economic level with the incentives being that of extra food rations, tobacco and alcohol, gasoline, vacation times.

    It's lofty but doable.

In books I have read, the third wish has to be to undo the problems caused by the first two wishes.

    Great question! Love the responses!

    1. One more day with my father. A fine and wise man.
    2. One more day with my grandfather. A fine and wise man.
    3. The wisdom to know what to ask them.

you know, supposedly God asked Solomon what he wanted - wealth, power, women, etc. Solomon said "wisdom." God said "good for you. Since you asked for wisdom, you will get that, plus those other things."

although, perhaps the wisdom of having 1000 wives might be questioned.
