Bill Gates published a cool graphic on his blog of the world's deadliest animals. Here's the list. The number of people killed per year is first, then the animal. There's a surprise at the end.
10 Shark

10 Wolf

100 Lion

100 Elephant

500 Hippo

1,000 Crocodile

2,000 Tapeworm

2,500 Ascaris Roundworm

10,000 Freshwater Snail! (schistosomiasis)

10,000 Assassin Bug (Chagas disease)

10,000 Tsetse Fly (sleeping sickness)

25,000 Dog (rabies)

50,000 Snake

475,000 Human

725,000 MOSQUITO!
I knew I always hated those little bastards.

If you follow this kind of thing.....I'm a geek and do
Me too .. lol.
It is estimated that mosquitoes have killed more human beings than all wars, famines and natural disasters combined - more humans than are alive today. 3-6 million people each year die from malaria alone, and up to 100 million are sickened annually. This is just from 1 disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

Ticks might fit on the list somewhere. Some bacteria, which when I was in biology class were classed

as animals. But the list is engaging, makes you think.

You got that from the ex-president of Microsoft, and he is a certifiable loon.
Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Actually, one of the deadliest animals in North America is the white-tail deer. Although attacks are rare, they cause a lot of fatal accidents. Not to mention the millions they cost us in property damage.

@zekest: an evil, certifiable loon, that has caused a tremendous amount of unneccesary harm to the inhabitants of planet earth.
Oh well guys, I thought it was interesting.

I HATE Mosquitos with a passion!

We have them pretty bad here in Tennessee, especially where I'm at, since we're surrounded by lakes, rivers, ponds and swamps.

Probably not as bad as Alaska or Louisiana though, I hear they're the size of humming birds in those areas!

I am slightly suprised the mosquito death toll is nearly double the human death toll. I honestly thought we would be responsible for killing more of our own than any other species. Interesting stuff.

I'm with petes03. Among things I hate, mosquitoes are pretty much at the top of the list.

The mosquito is a menace, they are why I am forced to drink so many Gin & Tonics.....you know, for the quinine. It's all about safety.

I thought for sure it would be the deadly TAD and PAD bug!

Can’t kill you... but they certainly can break you.

Yep... only two forms of life on earth. Plant and animal, and an insect ain't no plant.
