I picked up a Linkman's Fifty Grand pipe at a local antique shops. I didn't know anything about it, but since it was well smoked I figured it was worth picking up hoping it would be a good performer. I got home and did some research. What I discovered is that all Fifty Grand pipes are marked with 4 digits that should all start with 15. However mine is clearly marked 1196. Does anyone know about these pipes that can help me? Thanks.

A brief search turned up several examples of fifty grand pipes that began with 14 as well as one that began with 18, so your 11.. isn't alone!

Stop by the Dr Grabow Collectors Forum. Those guys have done their homework.
Linkman's Fifty Grand predates Dr Grabow. So it was made before 1943.
