I don't think that coffee break pipes have to be small, necessarily, because you can either fill them only partially,

or simply stop smoking when you need to and let the tobacco DGT for a while. It would be convenient however,

if the pipe was a "sitter", because a pipe stand or pipe rest might not be handy at work. -- Just some thoughts. :puffy:

I have a number of small basket pipes that are good smokers, I like to take these to work because if something happens to them it's not the end of the world. In my experience basket pipes stamped Italy have been better smokers than ones marked czech or other.

I have a stanwel featherweight that I absolutely love. It has the red stain on the rim of the bowl but the rest of the pipe is black sand blast. My go to quick smoke break pipe though is a Missouri Meerschaum "Eaton" I got it for $3.50. Keep in mind though you need a pipe tool to pack it. The bowl is so small you cant fit a finger in it. Smokes great, light as can be and very inexpensive.

I have been looking at these also. I want to put a short stem on the Mini churchwarden.

I have quite a few Stanwells and the red stain has rubbed off onto my hand from a few. This has only happened with the smooth finishes, never with the blasts. And it always stops after a few bowls. Once the pipe is broken in, you're good to go. For what it's worth, I own some hand mades that have transferred stain to my hand, including a Tonni Nielsen and an S. Bang (off the top of my head).
Kirstens have relatively small bowls and are durable for hauling back-and-forth to work.

I highly recommend the Stanwell featherweight series, especially the black sandblast. I've never had the stain from the rim rub off, and I suspect that's because I removed the bowl coating with alcohol before smoking it. Just a little rub with alcohol or water will probably remove any excess stain. Again, I never had a probelm with my S featherweight. And a FANTASTIC smoker, too.

Seeing as you just bought a Radice, that is going to spoil you a bit so I would recommend these. If old cajun recommends a Tsuge, that means it is a great pipe.

cigrmaster, no one is as generous as you in helping to spend other people's money  . Srsly, those are great suggestions, though. The Stanwell 239 is one I've considered owning, before -- just a classic Danish billiard/brandy.

Or any of the peterson sport line pipes. If you can find one, the old gilted edge stanwells are small

I used to own one of the lower-priced Tsuge pipes. It had a cheap, lacquer-like finish that started to chip and peel after a short time. It's the only pipe that I have ever owned that did anything like that. Ended up giving it away, as I would have felt guilty selling or trading it. Maybe it was a one-off issue, but I have never purchased another Tsuge since.

I have this Peterson only mine is smooth with a fish tail instead of the P-Lip. It's extremely light weight and very small. Great for a quick smoke.

Since you did not mention the budget, I have to recommend a #1 Dunhill. I just got one for quick smokes. It is perfect.

The Sebastien Beo I recently won in the Cartoon Contest is a small bowled beauty. Also, don't discount MM cob pipes... Great smaller bowled models available.

If you can get to Chicago, I grabbed one of the smaller sized basket pipes at Iwan Ries about a month ago for $15 and LOVE THE THING!

The Tsuge Pipes are great smokers. Smokingpipes.com has them and they do not break the bank. I have 2 of them and love them.
