Finished this Pipe today, 11/20/2011. Used Dog Wood. The shape is not what it was suppose to be.

I drilled through the bowel and had to plug it. The sailor is my dad and the monkey on the right is me,1965.

Anyway it smokes good.

Nice work Joe! I'd like to try some Dogwood one of these days. Have several of them scattered around our place. Might get a beating though if the wife finds out I cut one of them!

Ejames,

I have used different types of woods but the Dogwood was the easiest to carve

and sand.I would like to use Brier but when I start out with a picture or drawing

on the block , it does not turn out what I realy wanted. Seems I have a mirror type brain.

What I see and than the brain tells my hands to do things come out backwards.

soooo i just start than let the it flow how ever so if I make a miss cut than

no problem-work around it and do another shape.
