With tax return season upon us, I should shortly have a little extra scratch to play with. That being said, I started looking through several sites of custom pipe makers, and came across this one.
Last night, I sent an email off to Donald Kesling with my thoughts on a custom, commissioned piece and am waiting to hear back from him.

Has anybody here commissioned a pipe with him? Thoughts? Opinions?

I checked Kesling's website. He certainly does a lot of out-of-the-box freestyles. I like some (check out the briar "cob") and many are just to far out there for me.

That said, however, you probably have a blank slate because I'm thinking this guy can likely make anything you want and his prices seem fair as well.

Here's mine that I really love. I got it from Don at the Kansas City Show in 2011.

From what I've seen on his web site, I don't think his work is quite in line with the prices he's charging.

He certainly has some inventive looking pipes. I like some of them. That popeye poker is certainly something would like on my desk.
