I have a vintage Kaywoodie Thorn (I imagine it was made between from 1928-1938 or somewhere in that era) but it doesn't appear ever to have had a filter. Where these earlier Kaywoodies made without metal filters?
Thanks

Hi Ray, and welcome to the forums!

I know almost nothing about Kaywoodie's, but I believe there's a website dedicated to them.

Maybe someone here can answer your question and/or point you to the Kaywoodie site. There are

several folks here who are real fans of the brand, and Kaywoodie issues come up often.

Again, welcome!

Another great resource for Kaywoodies is The Compendium.

Kaywoodie pipes are my passion. And some of the earlier Kaywoodies were made without the "Drinkless" system. Your pipe is older than you think, though off the top of my head I can't remember the time period in which the Drinkless was developed. However, the Drinkless was in during the 20s and 30s, because I have a Yacht from that time period which has a stinger.

I hope it smokes well for you! And if it doesn't...well, I'm ALWAYS looking to expand my Kaywoodie collection.

Collin
