Some years ago I read some science fiction short stories that the legendary John Loring wrote. Yes, the same John Loring who wrote extensively on Dunhill pipes and tobaccos. These stories were set 50,000 years in the future. The Galaxy was ruled by a benevolent Emperor who was a fanatical pipe smoker (as are most of the main characters in this series of stories. While never the centerpiece of the stories, which usually figured around some crime or high level espionage, pipes and tobacco were a real major part of the flavor of these stories. Anybody Know what happened to these stories??
