You asked so... Right now I'm smoking a 1960s Castello Searock straight billard with a saddle bit. It's loaded with "Old Ironsides" from CAO, a nice latakia blend.

Just changed. Now I'm smoking a modest Savinelli with a balsa filter (I make my own filters) and it's full of Raleigh. How's that for a switch? This is fun, maybe I'll post it every time I change pipes... obviously I have nothing better to do right now!

A nice Talamona stacked billiard (sort of). I'm sorry to say that Cesare Talamona no longer makes pipes. That's a shame, because he made some really great ones.
I would love to pick some more up, and I've seen some estates for sale, but I just can't justify more pipes at this time.
All the same, I'm enjoying this one with some Middleton's Walnut today.

Recently discovered Burley London Blend in a Peterson Kapet.

I just completely re-furbished the Kapet and about 3/4 of way through my first smoke, I have dedicated it to this wonderful burley blend!! A perfect match of pipe and tobacco.

    Wow!

Last night's New Year's Eve smoke was Peter Stokkebye's Navy Flake, bent & stuffed, into the no-name Greek - http://pipesmagazine.com/members/jlee/album/picture/1503 - little miss J Lee, Mrs J Lee(who complained about the PS Navy Flake's note), and I lit fireworks just after midnight (therm said 5 degrees outside).

Tonight it's sweet warm Jamesons chased by Guinness accompanied by a band called Antarctica(for obvious reasons) in the headphones. The garage is too cold to brave tonight. Best wishes in the New Year to all.

Another Ben Wade and more P.A.

I was doing some cellar accounting this weekend and was shocked at how much of this old codger tobacco I am smoking these days.

I am thinking it is the equivalent of pipe comfort food.

It provides a basic good old fashioned smoke. It isn't in your face, it isn't complex, it smokes well even when I'm not.

Over the past year or so it has become my basic tobacco. I can't believe it.
