Hi! I just buy a new im corona old boy grom a reputable seller online(wont tell the name for now) and I receive this lighter. At first it's look like a real one. It's got the name under and came with everything that suppose(warranty card, little bag, instruction booklet...) But the thing is the "flint compartment wheel" is bigger then the picture online. And the arm of the flip cover is bent in the other way... have you seen this version before? Are corona changing their models? Or i have a fake??thanks !

No idea, really. I do know there are some replicas, but they are made in China. Does yours have a country of manufacture?

Almost positive it's real. This style is only really made by a couple manufacturers.. Corona, Kiribi (who I think makes Peterson's version), Mr. Brog..
The best way to tell quality is by heft, as the better ones are all-metal construction. The budget models like the Brog have a plastic fuel tank and a cheaper metal housing. If it doesn't have plastic, it's all good.

I'd say it's probably legit. I haven't heard of the old boy knock-offs actually copying the packaging and markings like they do with the large L2 Duponts.

Yeah, that would be quite the operation to simply counterfeit a 100 dollar pipe lighter! If it came from a reputable seller, I'd say you're A-OK!

Interesting! The arm on my Old Boy curves down, but this one that pst linked to is oriented as is yours. My flint wheel is smaller— thinner— but everything else is similar. I bet you're o.k. on it.

I have never heard of counterfeit "IM Corona" lighters out there.
All of the old boy replicas that I have seen are obviously not made by IM Corona.

I have that very same model old boy and it looks legit. You can see my lighter among my pics on instagram for comparison:

It sounds like folks who know feel it's authentic. How does it work? That might be another clear signal.
