I recently inherited 75 pipes from the 70-90's , some may be older . I have some Ben Wade , Viggo Neilson , turkish carved meerschaums , bbb, portland , Mr. Anderson , Reject , stanwell , peterson , IRC , butz choquin , a bunch of kaywoodies , and several others . most of them are from , Denmark , france , italy , england , and other parts of Europe . I am just learning about some of them , and i had no idea how valuble some were . I would like some help in identifiying some of them , and or finding out what year , and the value . I will prob. place some for sell if its worth the trouble . im trying to figure out how to post pics on here so I can share with you . thanks

No pics, no proof! You click on the IMG button, then on the popup put the URL of the picture, then it will appear. Not sure how that makes this "the most difficult forum to post pictures on."

Welcome, cajundad. Don't worry. You're not the first to have trouble posting pictures.

Please have a look at this thread:

    Good luck.

It's cool man, we've all had trouble at some point...For me Philip's link was the way to go.Once I set that "photobucket.com" up,it has been so easy to share pics on here,FB,Ebay and other sites as well,it just takes a little time initially but worth it in the long run.

I'll help identify them all for my pick of one of them gratis.

Seriously, they look great and I'm pretty impressed with what I can see of the collection. Congrats.

thanks nsfisher . id love to see your work . nightmare had some nice restores i seen . with the 75 i inherited i now have a total of 87 pipes and 3 that need stems . one of the three has a piece of lucite from a broken stem stuck in the shaft . its an irc . would a screw treaded into the lucite be safe to try to pull it out ?

Some try it for a fix. In a case such as that, with a valuable pipe, I would send it away for a fix. Walkerbriar is quite well thought of here. They do amazing work.

No problem mate. There are many members on here who put my modest restorations to shame. I have done about 50 in the past yr or so. I have a 1953 Patent Dunhill Tanshell in the process right now. It is restored now to what I usually consider "good enough for me", but I have elected to go beyond what I normally do. I am waiting on a "Kit" at the moment before I can complete the restoration.

I started out buying an estate at an antique store that I didn't properly clean and I grew up with a family of anti-smokers. So needless to say I didn't know much about pipe smoking. This forum has really taught me a bunch. There are a few here who I consider mentors and a bunch I now call friends. There is actually another gentleman who we all call The Old Cajun who has a vast array of pipes and knowledge.

I can tell just by looking you have some quality pipes there. If you are a handy person I say try and restore some of the cheaper ones yourself as that is another part of this amazing hobby I enjoy. If they turn out well you could try and restore some of the better pieces. There are many articles and threads about restoration, which is just basically a deep cleaning or you can just start one yourself and ask for advice directly.

I wish you luck and hope you stick around.

Amazon is a good source for many things needed. Be careful with the Kaywoodies, too, as they are pretty collectable and some are pretty valuable too.

Grenci , calabria italy . Nice big pipe . i havent seen a lot of these . This pipe was said to be purchased from Dominico Grenci himself by my reletive during his last years as a US military servicemen , stationed overseas . My family said he really liked this pipe and only smoked it on certain occasions , and he told the story of visiting Grenci's shop once and picked this pipe . They claim he said that the pipe maker showed him his personally selected briar that he stored in a certain way and , that he was very selective of the briar he inspected and only used the very best pieces for hie free hand pipes . I thought the story was good , but I cant find any other info on it . it is too big for my preference , so I may place it for grabs . I was offered 100USD for it recently but I wanted to be sure it wasnt worth more , and I was unsure if I really wanted to part with it at that moment . I hope it wasnt a mistake .

Welcome aboard, cajundad. It has taken me 42 years to accumulate a collection of 30 pipes. You are truly blessed with not only the number, but the remarkable quality of these pieces. I only hope that, when I'm gone, someone will prize my pipes as you appreciate these.
