I picked up this classic billiard from Mike at briarblues a few weeks ago. The artisan is a little known carver named Ingo Garbe. I have been puffing on this recently and it is a real smoking machine. Has anyone heard of this guy and whether he is still carving? He doesn't seem to have a website that I can find.

I have never heard of him either. Makes you wonder how many carvers are out there that make wonderful pipes but never receive any notoriety.

Too many never receive the recognition they deserve. The bird's eye on your's is stellar. Enjoy it.

Another beauty Peck. I would prefer something a little lighter weight but very nice indeed.

I am a big fan of Ingo Garbe's work. I love his idea of sticking to traditional shapes. He is certainly not way out there in freehand design. Not to re-invent the wheel, he concentrates more on grain, engineering and smooth flowing lines. I try to pick up his pipes whenever I can.
Here is a straight grain bent I sold some time ago.

My eyes are open widely!!!

That pipe looks like a Tiger-butterfly in it with beautiful Birdeyes and Grain.

May be it could be a name of pipe.

Brad yours is just so elegant, the stem exquisite.

Marty Pulvers adores Garbe and has a number of his pipes for sale in the German section.

I like that though expensive his prices are not obscene.
