Buy a nice Nording for under $200 and take the other $800 and have one hell of a start on a nice cellar of tobacco. Just my 2 cents worth (tax included)

    Tobacco Cellar?
How would you buid a tobacco cellar? I hear that term but thought it might just be the top sheflf of a cool, dark closet.

Im to new at this to buy all that tobaccao. I dont know what all I like yet. Im stuck on a few Bowsell brands and dont really know what else to get. I guess I have bought a couple other types but didnt like it.
So there for I really need to figure out more of what I like before spending $800 on tobacco.

If I had $1000 for pipes and baccy I'd scout out an estate birth year Dunhill ( 250 tops ) or a few Petes and spend the rest on tobacco

I would probably pick up a couple nice Castello's in the $400-500 range. I have always wanted one or two, but have never pulled the trigger due to their cost. Anything left over would go for tobacco.

I would call up BriarBlues and try talking him down from 1700.00 to 1000.00 for this W.O. Larsen

I'd probably get two nice pipes in the $350-400'ish range, then blow $200 on stocking up on a few favorite blends.

I'd pick up something English like maybe a Dunhill and a Castello from Italy. I'd like to have these two in my collection. If anything was left over I'd buy some tobacco.

    Thanks everyone.

I have been looking real hard at the Dunhill and a Castello, maybe one each like bentmike and mrenglish has suggested.
From what I am gathering they are top of the line.

Still want to here your picks though.

Sticking to the criteria of the question (which limited the purchases to pipes) at present I'd have to go with this Baki Calabash and this Ser Jacopo (stretching the $1000 just a bit).

I think I would probably go with one really nice pipe - have no idea what - and blow the rest on tobacco. 50/50 split.

I would buy a dunhill shell briar bulldog, then spend the rest on another gun, probably an arsenal ak74 at this point lol

My best smokers are my 3 lorenzetti's so I would likely buy a "high end" Lorenzetti and stock up on some tobacco as tough times are coming for us pipe smokers I think.

    A fully restored Pre-War Dunhill.

I want a Dunhill billiard, an Ashton, and a Peterson Mark Twain. Might be tough to get all three for under a grand.

I'd go with a pipe or two from Davidoff, mainly because I own a bottle of Cool Water.

I would buy 2 Winslow B grades. I have smoked many high end pipes from the likes of Former, Barbi, Castello, balleby, matzhold and others and for my money Poul Winslow has em beat for smoking properties and looks. This guy has the best Winslow prices I have seen on the net.

I think I would have to drop $500 on an elaborate meer. Then 2 custom for around $250 each if I could pull it.

I have seen some Yanik pieces go for that and more. I'm sure there are more. Realistically I will probably never spend more than $200 - $250 on a pipe, but it's nice to dream. To date my 2 most expensive pipes were $100 each.

For me, it's all about the tobacco. I can take pipes or leave them. I'd just go wild at the tobacco store!
