After Duane posted - about Sparrowhawk posting about getting his Dunhill - which resulted in Duane getting a birth year Dunhill, I visited the site responsible for all this madness and now have a birth year Dunhill of my own about to head my way. A 1964 Bent Billiard to be exact. So thanks a lot guys. That Tom Eltang poker I'm wanting just keeps getting farther away.

Oh, man. Well, if there was ever a good reason to push back the Eltang, that is it. That is a nice looking pipe! Congrats.

Unbelievable!!! Duane actually may be a Higgs Bosun particle of Dunhill PAD....In quick session after his posting and Bradley's Von Erck thread, I too have a birth year Dunhill on the way.

Congratulations on your Birth Year Dunhill - it's a beaut.

Nice I have found those old Dunhill shells to be great smokers. I'm sure you will be pleased.

I know what I need, smoke, I can't recall the last time I tasted it....Gandalf in the mines of Moria.

"we shall have to share pipes, as good friends must at a pinch'....'I keep a treasure or two near my skin, as precious as rings to me. Here's one: my old wooden pipe. And here's another an unused one...He held up a small pipe with a wide flattened bowl, and handed it to Gimli. 'Does that settle the score between us', said Merry. 'Most noble hobbit, it leaves me deep in your debt."

I have no dunhill pipe (yet?) but if I see a '1982 anything' that takes my fancy I will seriously consider it

I too have a 1964 Dunhill that I am wondering if I want to sell or keep.
Sure love it every time I smoke it on Sundays.
Problem is I was born in 1947.

@mortonbriar, Mastro de Paja's dated 1982 can be found, that is the last year that Giancarlo Guidi was associated with the brand. He started Ser Jacopo in 1983. The brand has had quality issues over the years, but pipes of that era can be had at prices that make them solid values. IMHO

My birth year Dunhill is from 1929. My Dad's birth year. I'm waiting for a nice '53.

Stan, that's gorgeous! Maybe I've looked at Dunhills the wrong way. The older ones are much more fetching than their newer offerings.

I've already met my quota on pipes with the L'Anatra.... I do secretly look for a 1974 from time to time though.

Once Anthony realizes a Dunhill smokes just like a birthday cake with candles he'll switch his tune.

You guys should stop tempting Anthony. It is cruel.

Oh, did anyone notice the 1974 tanshell that Shae Hemingway at VintagePipes.etsy has for sale. Very nice looking pipe. Has darkened wonderfully.

Got my '64 Dunhill 6120 in from Briar Blues yesterday and finally got a chance to have a bowl of MM965 during my lunch break today. I could not be more pleased with this pipe or the experience of buying from Mike. The pipe is beautiful in my opinion and smokes like a dream. Sorry for the poor quality iPhone photo but I was in a hurry.

johnbarleycorn - 965 is what I christened mine with, and you would have thought the pipe and tobacco were "matched" at the factory.

Duane - how's yours doing? I hope better than your first experience.

    Anthony, you there?
Did you buy your Dunill yet?

Not bad at all. It has became my primary car and work pipe. So far I haven't found a blend or genre it hasn't liked.
