A member on this Forum was kind enough to send me a sample of 1Q, about 4-5 bowls worth. I tried a bit of it in a very small, approx. 4 inch long Butz Choquin, and it was pretty darn good. Smooth and silky, dispite the short pipe there was no heat drawn into the mouth. I do believe I am going to like this baccy even tho the nic seems non-existent. If I want a bit of nic, I reckon I can just add a pinch of Penz. or 1792 Flake. I will know more after having another bowl after work tonite. I work Hospital Security now, as a semi-retirement kind of thing, approx 4-5 hours each evening. So, at 9:30 pm tonight, I shall be loading my Cha-Cha TV Pipe with this 1Q, and sit back and slowly sip, while watching The Voice on Television and having a cup of Maxwell House.

If at first you don't succeed, have another bowl.

Man, I want to try that stuff bad... I think it's right up my alley,

Does it have great flavor or just nice room notes?

There's a reason Lane 1-Q has such a big following. It will likely be the center piece of my next baccy order. I try to keep 5lb around and it is quite inexpensive from P&C.

I think I have like a half pound right now. It's pretty much an all day smoke. I don't really compare it to CBW though. I cannot stand CB, it just leaves this nasty blah film on the roof of my mouth. 1Q is the just the best.

I know CBW contains some Propylene Glycol which is a common humectant to increase shelf life. 1-Q may have a little bit, but not as much as far as I can tell. It certainly smokes drier and doesn't goop the bowl.

Yea my bowl always stays dry with 1Q. Maybe that chemical is what I'm tasting with CB. I guess I'm just a hater with that stuff.

Keep the questions coming. And not a kidney, it only runs about $2.50 an ounce or so. Im lucky enough to have a B&M close by that sells it for $2.49 an ounce

Look at the prices in this link and you'll see why people try to buy 5lb at a time.

I spent today begging my online regular shop to get 1Q in stock. He just can't get it Not available in the UK he said

He keeps pointing me in the direction of Kendal American Delite by Gawith Hoggarth as it is supposed to be as close to 1Q as i can get.

Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice. Pull down your pants, and slide on the ice.

This is not going to be the popular response here but I tried 1Q for the first time the other day after, receiving a sample from the Richmond pipe show, and was very excited to try it since it is so popular. I found I didn't care for it all that much. It was good but had a slight chemical taste to it which stuck around after my smoke. Ironically I like CBW and doesn't seem to get that taste despite the obvious comparative goopiness of CBW. I'm going to give it a couple more goes before I throw in the towel but I guess that's why they sell a ton of both, everyone has different tastes.

You guys talked me into smoking a bowl of the stuff. Good stuff, very slight chem aftertaste. A good smoke overall. Not quite worth a kidney tho.

It's pretty one dimensional. Good room note but the taste was pretty uneventful for me.

The Lane aromatics are pretty much the only aromatics I can enjoy at this point. But just to clarify, 1Q is the bulk equivalent of CB Royal (Blue) not CBW which is RLP6. Personally I buy both the Lane bulks of 1Q aka Unique , BCA, aka Point IV and MV1000, aka 14K (not sure what their shop name for RLP6 is, I'll ask next time when the knowledgable young guy is working) when I make the effort to go to my closest B&M (Fader's), as well as the CB pouches from a convenience store when I don't feel like making the extra drive and paying to park. I don't think there is that much of a difference personally, or any noticeable chemical taste as some have suggested. I think that some people believe that a bulk, which came from a real tobacconist, just has to be better than, god forbid , an OTC. From my experience, both are too moist straight out of the package, and are vastly improved when allowed to dry.

1Q and Capt. Blk. White run neck and neck for the most sold tobacco. I've been smoking both since the big flood, with a few hundred other blends. Think of it. The flavors, textures and almost limitless blends. We are VERY lucky to be pipe smokers, living the dream in the here and now.

fisher, time to tell us what kind of bird that is I've had a couple of budgies (called something else in America) and they were very sweet. They had a cage but the door was always open and they were very affectionate. We got back from church and the stupid weiner dog had eaten the male. The female flew away and we never saw her again. I think she was heartbroken.

simnettpratt unless I'm mistaken the bird in fisher's profile picture is of a Quaker Parakeet. The regular parakeet is what we call a budgie in the US.

I have a little parrotlet myself.

Another couple of blends for 1Q lovers, both from P&C, are Russ Ouellette's Hearth & Home Landmark Series: Manor Heights (2 oz & 8 oz tins) and Scotty Bennett's Butternut Burley (sold in bulk). I'd classify both as crossover blends, mild, naturally nutty-sweet tobacco flavor.

My two cool down aromatics in my rotation are the 1Q and PS Pistachio -- I know, but it's just something about the mild nuttiness in the rotation. I have a pound of each on the way. At $26 a pound you can’t beat the price. I’m getting pissed about the FMOTT being out of stock everywhere, I’ve heard 2 weeks.
