I have a cellar that will last me 4 lifetimes at the rate I smoke but have been, like many, buying tobaccos I fear may disappear. I try, really try, to focus on TAD and not PAD, but sometimes a pipe still squeaks in here and there.

My wife, God Bless her, has been supportive. She buys gifts. She is tolerant when I explain all the companies going out of business, etc. But she really wants my acquisition to come to an end... at least until she sees a dent in the cellar (which is very slow on my end due to low consumption).

So we went out and bought a truck. The payment on this baby takes TAD and PAD out of my fiscal consideration altogether. The thing is: I just don't mind.

We are gearing up to start travelling a lot, so a fifth wheel is soon to follow.

I don't really need a lot of bells and whistles. This one has A/C, Cruise, P/W, Tonneau, and already is set with Fiver plate. It is a 2017 4x4 crewcab 3500 dually with 8050 miles on it and it has a 6 speed manual transmission. hee hee. I have dreamed of a manual truck forever.

But that is how my wife won the PAD/TAD war. You may want to have your wives, partners, and significant others do the same. ha ha.

Sounds like you have the best of both worlds; an understanding wife, a well stocked cellar, and a new vehicle.

    Congrats on all 3!

    Can you smoke a truck?
    No.
    Case closed.

Man, I've been wanting a new truck pretty bad this year, but since I completed the Dave Ramsey plan, I'm not going into debt to get one. When you have to write a big fat check instead, it throws cold water on the new truck plan pretty quick. I'm going to spend some money upgrading the house this year instead and keep my 2013 truck a few more years.

    Does it have an ashtray?

Tobacco's a help because it clears the mind
But like all your friends it is vilified
They always say, the right amount's fine

It does not have an ashtray. lol.

I may sneak some tobacco in later on, but not for a good while.

Seacaptain, I also wasn't really shopping, but my '93 ford wasn't going to be able to reliably pull across country anymore. We have 4 dogs and 2 teens, so we need a fiver to put them in while we are moving. The alternative was a motor home, but that was going to be twice as much as a truck and fiver and another whole powertrain to maintain.

That truck is magical. It drives so nice. The plan is to stabilize and get a fiver this winter or so and then travel all summer next year... and every summer thereafter as my wife and I will both be teaching.

With my monthly tobacco budget I won't afford monthly payments on a truck so nice. So I am guessing when you say TAD you mean A LOT of monthly buys

If your TAD equates to a car payment, then it's time to pump the brakes a little.

Hmm I'd bet that truck could tow a huge trailer of tins and pipes....

Have fun! My SIL/BIL do the camper thing every summer. This year they did a California and back two week trip. They love it. He also has a huge Ram truck, not as big as yours though.

I've always been a GMC guy but those new 2019 RAM's are sweet.
