Only been smoking for two years and I can tell you I got two pounds for Christmas and they're gone. So I'd say about 5-7 lbs. so far.

    Assumptions:

Smoking pipe since June 1, 1981
    Today's date 08/19/2011
Using Excel's date function of Days360 which used a 360 day year.
Smoke approximately 3 bowls per day on avg.
There are 10 avg size bowls per ounce.
Unable to smoke pipe for random reasons about 5% of the time

    Calculations:

Approx. Number of days smoking a pipe = 11,238 days (assuming given dates, and 360 day year used in Excel)
    Less 5% of days not smoking a pipe = (11,238 - 0.05(11,238))days = (11,238 - 562) days = 10,676 days

    10,676 days x 3 bowls/day x 1 oz./10 bowls x 1lb./16 oz. = approx. 200.2 pounds. (32,028 Bowls!)

"The pipe draws wisdom from the lips of the philosopher, and shuts up the mouth of the foolish; it generates a style of conversation, contemplative, thoughtful, benevolent, and unaffected..."

I'd say around 2 pounds. Not more than that, though. Winter makes smoking a bit of a chore...

Using Gecko's calculation adding 20% for the extra years...

    (200.2 X 20/100) + 200.2 = 40.4 + 200.2 = 240.6 LBS.... give or take a ton.

"Less 5% of days not smoking a pipe"

gawd, i cant remember a day going bye with out smoking something.....time is just a blur.

burned up a pound of mixed latakia i mixed up. probably just a little over a pound of what ever is an arm's reach. this month.

took about a quarter pound of the mix in a dark tin, put it out in the hot sun for a couple hours. smoked some next day.. not bad, not bad. little tastier that the mix.
    experimenting is fun

Somewhere between 400 and 500 lbs. Trying to figure it closer than that gives me a headache.

I've been smoking since '77, so I'd say a bunch, not going to try to crunch any numbers.... not awake enough for that.

I think the ratio is 3:1 between tobacco bought and tobacco smoked for the first few years, then closer to 1:1.

    I'm a noob...I'd say probably 2-5 lbs at most.

I'm planning on smoking a helluva lot more than that, too!

    4763.3 oz = 297.706 lb (297 lb and 11.29 oz)

Great topic! Was a fun little figure to work out. Interesting to think I've smoked something like an linebacker or a small motorcycle.

    EDIT: 135.03717 kg
