Blackwoods Flake, I just load like any other flake, fold and stuff or cube cut.

But Dark Star is a tough bark-like flake. I give mine a few pulses in a coffee grinder, hit it with 8 seconds in the microwave, and then load it like a ribbon. It is one of my absolute favorite pure Virginias. Good stuff.

Thanks Cosmic. I'm finding with my Virgina quest that the flavors can be very subtle.

I cube cut it and go at it. It can sometimes be difficult to stay lit but I agree with Cosmic. Its a gem.... Its also my goto tobacco when my mouth is not doing well from excessive smoking. It, for some reason soothes me!

McClelland's, in general, benefit from some "open tin time".
Dark Star is very compressed and will hold moisture for an incredible amount of time.
I like to open the tin, date the lid and come back at 1 month, 2 month, 3 month, etc ...
My last tin was sublime at 5-6 months and STILL required dry time.
Like many others, I prefer the cube cut method with a simple gravity pack.
Good Luck! :puffy:

A recent experiment which turned out great:
Dark Star Extra
cube cut
add 2 big pinches of Viking Dark
add 1 big pinch of Toque SP Extra
vigorously tumble to ensure all the dust is distributed evenly
load the bowl
light it up
yummy,

and with an added punch!

@misterlowercase! That sounds demented to me
How did you even come up with this diabolical idea! I've got a bunch of snuff lying around can you tell me what to expect? I'm afraid I'll hurt myself

Blackwoods flake, let dry awhile (30-60 minutes), rub out slightly, off to the races.
Dark Star- let dry a long time, a few pulses in the coffee grinder, and good to go.

cosmic, tarak, thanks for the Dark Star suggestions. I have a tin unopened, but eventually I want to do it justice. People who take the trouble seem to love the stuff, but it frustrates others who don't understand how to proceed.
