I picked up a dunhill today and I'm looking for some help with the stampings. It has dunhill bruyere on one side and the other has a k with star, made in England followed by a 6 and a circled 4 with an A
The star is rumored to mean that the pipe was made for the French market. There’s a thread here on the subject if someone more savvy than me can link to it. Otherwise, Don is spot on.
According to pipephil.eu, some of the pipes from the 1950s lack the underline. I saw one Sunday at the Chicago Show. Clearly smaller superscripted number, but not underlined.
