Checked out an antique store today and found a couple of pipes.
First one is a Savinelli Oscar Elite (811) with some nice birds-eye grain.
The other one I need some help with please. All it says is "Meerbowl Imported Briar" Any info?? Thanks!

That's my guess, too, meerschaum lining. These were almost always 'pressed' or 'chip' meer, and I've seen them crumble with age and end up looking like rough clay.

I scratched at the bowl interior and it looks like briar. Maybe it USED to have a lining?
