I meant to mention I made a trip to Harbor Freight a couple of weeks ago and finally bought myself this Heat Gun. I've been wanting one for a while and with that price I jumped on it finally. It is a great tool! I've used it to heat the knife to steam out dents, raise tooth marks, shape stem bends, and probably a few more things I'm not thinking of. If you don't have one, these things are about as handy a tool as you can ask for, and not just for pipe work'

We have lots at work, I never thought to use one for bending a stem, I'd actually like a slightly bigger bend in my wellington, I may have to show up to work a bit early . . .
Exactly right! I always put 2 pipe cleaners in the stem before bending it. Keeps the airway from collapsing.
