Ken (nevadablue) has mentioned he's on the lookout for a birth year pipe. I get it. Its interesting to have a pipe as old as you. Made me wonder how many of us have one (or several).
Here's my 1981 (give or take a year) Canadian made Brigham.

Swell looking Brigham! Here's my birthyear pipe, a 1985 Dunhill. I was thrilled to find it was unsmoked when I bought it, as that wasn't mentioned in the listing description.

Here
I picked up this NOS Kaywoodie Fine Line in July.

After reviewing some '69 birth year Dunhills, I decided that this $20 eBay score would serve just fine.
With the help of some forum members, we narrowed the production year down to '66-69. Close enough!
Still haven't smoked it yet...

Both are kind of at the bottom of the pile, but they are nice to look at from time to time.

Neat thread! I like the 'era' idea. Off to look for something from the '40s. Hmmm... I think I have some from the 40's. Now to think more...

Having a birth year pipe hasn't been a top priority for me, and my birth year Dunhill would be pretty costly if I could find one. So I settled on a birth era Peterson. This Pete is a pre-republic pipe and according to the stamping was made between 1945 and 1947. It's got a lot of wear and dings, but still smokes fine.

Yes, there are what looks to be hallmarks on the silver, but I can't see what they are even with a 10x magnifier. It is so worn they could be anything. I can read Sterling and Peterson's Dublin on the band, so the hallmarks might be nothing more than K&P.
