Great to be here and learn some things. Ive been a pipe smoker for a number of years. I enjoy hiking with my dogs and wood carving. It occurred to me recently that I could maybe make a pipe. So I've been restoring pipes to get a feel for how they are put together. Some have turned out quite nice. I'm planning on carving one in the near future, so wish me luck. Itll be ugly, but itll be mine.

Welcome from another North Carolinian! Enjoy your carving journey, but be careful, once the bug bites it might be hard to turn back. I'm now hooked and looking to carve more after my first few.

Quite a few Old North Staters here on Forums. Welcome aboard. Some like to start with a "pipe kit" with the stem and shank already carved and the bowl as a block. I let someone else make the pipes, I admit.

Glad you landed here. I too recondition pipes, have a buffer, & enjoy taking an old classic & breathing new life into it. Look forward to seeing your creations.
