I love semois tobacco. If you haven't tried it yet, you owe it to yourself to acquire some.

I'll guarantee you'll want some after reading this story.

I read the NYT article, and at the time, it was not clear Semois would ever be readily available in the U.S., so I kept waiting to see if there was a way to get at least a sample. Then it came to several of our online retailers. A Forums member sent me a generous sample, and when I'd tried it and praised its qualities, a Forums member sent me most of a package of Semois, an unopened tin of Frog Morton Cellar, and (I didn't even see it until the generous member asked about it) a beautiful bent billiard Ferndown pipe. All of which somewhat made my year. If you enjoy non-aro burley blends and have a taste for full-strength leaf with some nicotine, this is a fabulous leaf. Bear in mind, some experienced smokers really don't like it. It is somewhat a love/hate proposition, rather polarizing, but if you enjoy it, it will be one of your favorites.

Good article, thanks for the share. I got a brick of La Burmuese from Pipes and Cigars a month or so back. It really is good. Dry as tinder and that is how it's supposed to be. Was a very different experience smoking. The first few bowls burned hot and FAST, like a quick fuse. You have to go very very slowly with it, but if you can manage that (it's hard for me) it is really good stuff.

I"ve smoked over 100g of Mr. Manil's Semois, and the barnyard and spicy aromatic and tastable components Mr. Godbee describes I have also found. Sounds to me that he smoked legitimate Semois. Also, the loosely clumped brick and cut are the same.
