Okay, so the state of Washington still taxes tobacco at 95%, but it looks lie there may actually be some good news coming for us long-suffering Evergreen-staters -- the legislature is making some serious moves aimed at legalizing pipe and cigar smoking in various establishments such as smoking lounges, bars, restaurants, etc. At the moment, the only places one can legally smoke indoors in a public place are on native reservation land, such as the Lit Cigar Lounge at Snoqualmie Casino or Smoky Joe's, down near Tacoma, where the Seattle Pipe Club meets. Stay tuned.
BTW, I've been absent from this forum for some time, so it's quite possible that this subject is already covered in one or more other threads -- if so, I apologize for the duplication.

Exactly, Crusader -- the tax is 95% and the official line is that it is a felony to buy online without paying the tax, and also to ship tobacco into the state without collecting and remitting the tax. Further than that I will not say in that I do not wish to spend my few remaining years in prison (unless they make it legal to smoke in such establishments).

Good to see you again 4Dot. Thanks for posting this because I missed the other thread. Its nice to see the state coming to there senses though I'm not getting my hopes up until it actually passes and the lounges pop up.

FYI... the NW Pipe Meet Up will be July 12 at Smokey Joe's. I hope you will be able to make it this year.

A 95% tax and a felony rap for importing? For a substance that is legal in all 50 states? It does beg the question - What dirty, under-handed BS tactics did your legislature do to get that passed? Did they bundle in with some healthcare nonsense (under the guise of making it safer/better/healthier for children) or some other completely irrelevant piece of legislation?
