I have a good friend who reviews tobaccos for a major magazine and he is always kind enough to send me the tins he does not favor. Today I got a nice package with Astley's medium flake, dark flake, Rattray's stirling flake and MacB's dark Kentucky. I am blessed to have such a good friend and am excited to try each of these blends.
I recently found out that I am sensitive to perique, which sucks, but in very small amounts I'm ok so I have fallen back on my old favorite Odyssey by Pease to be my goto English instead of the Capt. Earle's blends. Good stuff to be sure and very latakia forward from go, but it mellows and the VAs and Orientals support the smoky leaf quite well.
