For anyone interested in pipe repair reborn pipes is a great site. Yesterday I finished splicing together a broken stem with the info from reborn pipes. There is the article below but there are others on the site as well.

Yes his site is full of good info. I screwed something up the, the splice is great, lines are great. I used a expoxy ebonite dust mix and the area is not dark enough. Am wondering if I should have used super glue or some black dye in the epoxy. I think I will have to file it down a little and dye some expoxy up and put a thin coat on it. I know that works as I have made the "pearls" for bamboo shanks with the epoxy dye mix.
