Be prepared to run. When the team gets going up hill, they need you to give 'em a hand. Riding with knees slightly bent and leaning into turns is a LOT more comfortable. Wear a balaclava for the wind, and the smell of dog crap.

Are you a passenger or a sled driver?
Passengers should just sit back and enjoy. Drivers will be surprised at the strength of the doges, even in a two dog sled. If you are on a track, losing the sled should not be a problem. The dogs follow the track home. If you are going cross country,m and you are driving, stay in contact with the sled, otherwise . . . its a long walk back.
You are really gong to enjoy the experience. I've done it a few times, the strength of the dogs and their pure joy in racing over the snow is wonderful to behold.
