I used to love nothing more than getting trashed and starting a mosh pit while listening to these guys. Sadly, I am on the dry these days, but their music still kicks large amounts of ass.

Oi, I hear you on that one. I had a real problem up until about two years ago. I have pipes and my current girlfriend to thank for kicking that awful shit. Ill still have a good beer now and again, but I wont touch the hard stuff. As far as drugs, never touched them in my entire life. Not once. Ever.

You know, maybe I should move to New Zealand. Theres a dude who subscribes to my youtube channel that I get along famously with, and it sounds like you and I could share a story or two! LOL! Maybe its just because Im a night owl here in the states, and it seems like with the time difference, you guys are always up when I do the bulk of my internet activity.

Flogging Molly is awesome, the rest a resounding meh.

80's California punk made it all the way to NZ! Been there done that, grew up in Cali in the 80's and survived! Now days punk rock just grates on my nerve. I do enjoy Flogging Molly, Swinging utters, and the Pogues still. My musical taste is kind of eclectic and depends on my mood. When I play any thing kind of hard my 5 year old says," Daddy I dont like that music! I like the cowboy songs!"

Hobie, here are the lyrics for Chimera - Resurrection

free at last
finally tasting happiness
five years of hell for nothing
trapped inside the minds of failures

a wise man once said
that which does not kill us makes us stronger
thought we were dead
so are we now invincible?

determination, perseverance, resolution, resurrection(x2)

final straw
underlying ignorance
consumed by greed and hate
Kept under the feet of Tyrants

reality kicked in
raced against time just to start all over
treated like shit
pushed aside and expendable

determination, perseverance, resolution, resurrection(x2)

we have become so god damn powerful (x6)

all the beatings you gave us, we will use them against you (x2)

determination, perseverance, resolution, resurrection(x2)

free at last
finally tasting happiness
the resurrection

BTW - I'll take my $100.00 in the form of PA and one Uncle Arthur straight Fishtal stem for my cob. lol,j/k

And here I thought I thought I was the only one who liked punk here... I remember hearing 'Flogging Molly' at Boy Scout summer camper in 2002. Could not remember the name of the band or the song till I played Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4...

But my favorite punk band by far has to be The Clash. Career Opportunities was my anthem for High School.

Now, I've noticed a tendency for this forum to get rather silly.

I think I'm the only person I know who was smoking a pipe outside of a mosh pit after this show.

Talk about a pit that would get you beat up, I was sore for days!

And earlier in July I saw Flogging Molly, now that was a kickass show.

Punk had so many diverse influences and dispersed into so many subgenres, that what is or isn't punk per se always ends up being a Life of Brian "Sermon on the Mount" scene. Iggy, MC-5, Lou Reed and the NY Dolls weren't necessaritly punk but punk would have had a tough evolution without them. Some like Patti Smith were almost more performance art than punk. I grew up with Hardcore Punk like FEAR, GBH, The Exploited, Circle Jerks, X and Black Flag. The Germs, the Bags and Castration Squad begat 45 Grave, which I played Earlier and that band, along with the Misfits and TSOL, laid the groundwork for Goth, Death Rock and Horror Punk. By that time what was left of punk and metal had become so adulterated that it became hard to tell where one ended and the other began. What's Punk? I don't know. Punk is dead. It was a short-lived movement that gave birth to several great bands and a wholelot of miserable imitations and fashion disasters. I like it anyway.
