I think the term was "Big Brother". Cue the scary music...

Here
You think you've private lives

Think nothing of the kind

There is no true escape

I'm watching all the time

I'm made of metal

My circuits gleam

I am perpetual

I keep the country clean

I'm elected electric spy

I'm protected electric eye

Isn't this to be expected? It is the age of the internet/digital after all. Nothing shocking there. I would have been surprised to learn no one was collecting such data and disseminating it to interested parties.

Point is, this group takes legal precedence from particular localities, compiles it, & distributes for politicians, bureaucrats, & anti tobacco groups to use in comprehensive policy attack on smokers.

And they are probably paid handsomely for collecting and disseminating the information. But, it's not surprising such happens or, shouldn't be. Heck, the NRA does the same with germane information, collecting and disseminating information on gun laws, proposed gun laws, etc. Every professions have organizations which collect and disseminate information. They'd be derelict if they didn't. I bet "pro-life" organizations do it as well their counter-part. All PACS do. It's certainly nothing insidious and if you don't know what's going on in your area of concern you can neither fight nor defend.
Tobacco companies subscribe subscribe to the information.
