Here is my latest PAD, picked up off ebay for what I consider a reasonable price.

Nice, rugged GBD! She should clean up nicely -- congratulations!

For whereas men of an older school, like myself, smoke for the pleasure of smoking...

Thanks guys! I am really looking forward to receiving it. I like the shape and the blast, and the fact it comes with the box and sock just sealed the deal for me.

I was watching that one quite closely but ended up in the car with my boss when the auction ended. You got a nice deal! That is an interesting shape, not often seen in older GBD's. I would call that a Diplomat? The only thing that threw me on the pipe was it has no brass rondell on the stem, but is clearly a pre-Cadogan era pipe, so it might have a replacement stem. I've never seen a pre-Cadogan GBD without a logo on the stem. But, it should clean up nicely and be one good smoking pipes (at least all of my Prehistoric pipes smoke great). Post some pix when you get it cleaned up and congratulations! A GBD box and or sock go for $8-$10, so adding the pipe in is a sweet deal!

The pipe showed up today just as I was leaving for work. I only got a quick look at it, but it seems to be in fine shape. With a little cleaning, it should be ready to smoke. It is kind of an unusual shape, though, but I like it a lot. I hope to have some time tomorrow to clean it up, and then I will let you know how she smokes.
